The company was created in 1996 by Charles-Antoine Descotis via his adventure of travelling through India, where he enjoyed living and sleeping in hammocks for two years. At that time he was using the self made hammock made from polyester, mostly to protect himself from insects and dirt. When he arrived in Bali, he discovered a nylon material. He recognized the potential of the material as it was light, durable, elastic, breathable, anti-mildew and skin-friendly so he began making hammocks from this. His hammocks initially were made in his own home, and eventually he opened a small factory in Kerobokan, Bali in 2004 with 20 employees. Since then, the company has continued to grow and its hammocks have gained popularity reaching adventurers and dreamers from all over the world.〔Official Home Page of Ticket to the Moon http://ticketothemoon.com/content/about-tttm〕
